On November 8, 2014, mark the first anniversary of the devastation wrought by super typhoon Yolanda which first hit land Eastern Visayas and rampaged through nearby provinces, destroying thousands of houses and killing several people. On this memorable day we are commemorating not the destruction but the will power to rise again and the strong spirit as a community of nations. We are inviting your reverences and the faithful of the archdiocese to offer prayer for those who have died and for those who have survived the disaster.
PRAYER FOR OUR BRETHREN WHO SUFFERED THE TYPHOON YOLANDA
Loving Father, our refuge in trials,
listen to our humble plea for our brethren who suffered
the typhoon Yolanda.
We pray that they see hope through their faith,
find comfort through the loving kindness of those
who have come to their aid,
and discover many hearts and hands open to them.
We pray that those who have lost so much
have the fortitude to rebuild lives.
We pray that those who lost their lives embrace your love
and eternal peace.
We pray that those who have committed themselves
to responding to their needs
have the strength to serve with greater joy.
Inspire our hearts, we pray, that we may be “men and women
for our neighbors” convinced that the more we are for others,
the more we become God’s children.
All these, we entrust to the maternal love of INA, Our Lady of Peñafrancia, through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
