The Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission of the Archdiocese of Caceres headed by the very energetic Fr. Glenn C. Ruiz conducted a Seminar-Workshop for new Lectors last April 11-12, 2015 at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary, Concepcion Pequeña, Naga City. 247 participants from the different parishes of the Archdiocese took advantage of the summer formation. Out of the these, 46 participants came from the Central District, 85 from the Rinconada District, 35 from the Bay District, and 80 from the Partido District. The Bicol Medical Center also sent a participant.
The general theme of the Seminar-Workshop was “The Ministry of Lectors and the Commitment to Proper Liturgical Services.” On the first day of the formation program, participants listened to the different lectures proper regarding the ministry they are about to embrace. “The Lector as a Liturgical Minister” was given by Fr. Glenn C. Ruiz. “Liturgy and Eucharist: the Parts of the Mass” was discussed by Fr. Benedict John SJ. Eguia, a member of the Commission. “Liturgy and Scriptures: The Ordo and the Lectionary” was tackled by Fr. Bernard M. Lagatic, another member of the Commission; and even at night, participants still had another session with Fr. Glenn C. Ruiz on the topic, “The Eucharistic Spirituality of a Lector.”
To make learning more effective and concrete, the participants also had a workshop on “How to Serve Effectively as a Lector” with Fr. Lorenzo Juan B. Jarcia III, who is also a member of the Commission. On the second day, Mrs. Edna Tud, the Archdiocesan president of the Lectors Ministry Guild presented and explained the Archdiocesan Guidelines for Lectors. After, the participants returned to their respective parishes equipped with knowledge and on fire to serve the Church through the Ministry of Lectors.
