While the entire Catholic Church, headed by Pope Francis, prepares for the start of the Jubilee Year of Mercy from December 8, 2015-November 20, 2016, the Archdiocese of Caceres organized an Archdiocesan Assembly on Divine Mercy last Nov. 7 at the Holy Rosary Major Seminary.
The whole day affair was attended by 192 participants three from 51 parishes, 1 mission area and 5 institutions. The Divine Mercy Assembly was conducted to plan for the forthcoming Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy as proclaimed by Pope Francis which is to nefin rhis coming December 8,2015 until Nobember 20, 2016 (Solemnity of Christ the King). The devotion on the Divine Mercy was explained highlighting the message of Jesus to St. Faustina and the challenge on how to establish in each of the parish of the Archdiocese the apostolate. Proposed activites to be done in the parishes during the Year of Mercy were likewise presented as suggested in the Bull of Indiction “Misericordiae Vulrus”. The affair was concluded by the celebration of the Mass presided by the Archbishop of Caceres, Most Rev. Rolando J tria Tirona, OCD, DD
After the assembly, the participants will be serving as the core group in the parishes in celebration of the year of mercy and the propagation of the Divine Mercy devotion. The coordinators of the archdiocesan assembly were Fr Domingo Florida, Mr Ernesto Magtuto and assisted by Mrs Rose Olivan.
Moreover, the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy will be a major event in the Catholic Church, held from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception (December 8), 2015 to the Feast of Christ the King(November 20), 2016.
Like other previous jubilees, will be a special, holy year of remission of sins and universal pardon, in this occasion focusing particularly on God’s forgiveness and mercy. It’s anextraordinary Jubilee because it wasn’t predetermined long before; usually ordinary jubilees take place every 25 or 50 years. In fact, the 2016 Jubilee was first announced by Pope Francis on March 13, 2015.
