BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE PARISH OF ST. JOSEPH, SAN JOSE, CAMARINES SUR
The Parish of St. Joseph in San Jose, Camarines Sur is celebrating this year its Bicentennial Foundation Anniversary. The Parish was established by Rev. Fr. Salvador Mendoza in 1816.
Two Hundred years in the life of any Christian community is of singular significance, more so in a life of a parish. It means the strength to endure the trials of a journey; it underlines the active and authentic spirit that energizes the local Church; it proves the lasting relevance of its reason of being.
Two Hundred years as a parish speaks of an even more compelling message: the goodness and reliability of God.
On this Bicentennial Foundation Anniversary we look back over the pathways of history and see the clear footprints of the Lord walking with us. Our hearts are filled, should be filled, with an immense feeling of gratitude.
Considering therefore that the Bicentennial anniversary is not only an occasion to underline its history; but more importantly, a kairos, a spiritual opportunity of grace to become a renewed and transformed Community of disciples, I encourage everyone especially the parishioners of St. Joseph, each according to his or her condition to participate meaningfully to the various activities being organized to mark this milestone. I especially give importance and invite all to attend and concelebrate during the Pontifical Concelebrated Mass on July 26, 2016 at 4:30 in the afternoon in the Parish Church of San Jose, Camarines Sur.
Let be together in prayers and thanksgiving for the gift of faith.
Given at the Chancery, City of Naga, Republic of the Philippines, this 30th day of June, in the year of our Lord, 2016.
