The Association of Communities of Consecrated Life in Caceres (ACCLIC) conducted an outreach program to the Indigenous People (IP) of Iriga City under the Parish of St Jude Thaddeus at San Nicolas, Iriga City last July 4, 2015. The activity began with a short Para-liturgy led by Sr. Mary Almonte, NDV. It was followed by the song and dance numbers of the Missionaries of the Poor brothers which delighted the IPs so much.
The outreach program which consists of catechesis, feeding program, and gift giving was organized in connection with the celebration of the Year of Consecrated Life and the Year of the Poor. Fr. Misael E. Quindo, the parish priest, told members of the ACCLIC during the planning of this event that there are a lot of IP communities in Caceres and they are the poorest of the poor. They live near the mountain where they get food for their living. They take care of the environment so that it will give them food to eat. Hence, the consecrated men and women of Caceres planned to feed their body and soul.
Sr. France, DM gave catechesis to more than 260 children. She was assisted by the sisters from different religious congregations who became the nanny of those little kids who already wanted to cry because of separation from their mothers who were also attending adult catechesis inside the church. These sisters served them merienda after the catechesis.
Meanwhile, around 250 parents and youth were also catechized by Sr. Rosary Marie, SOLT using the small catechetical booklet ILAW which they happily brought home together with a bag of grocery items and brand new clothes. The sisters also served them merienda after the catechesis while the brothers and the rest of the sisters distributed the bags of grocery items and clothes to them. Everybody went home happy.
